Great to see at a a small venue
Was visiting from the UK and managed to get tickets. Great show, seen them once before supporting U2 but it was great to see them up close. I get the mixed reactions about the sound but I did think it improved as the gig went on. Roseland Theatre was amazing...just so chilled.
Great music...lousy sound mixing
It was a very good mix of songs and good to have Snow Patrol back. Next time don't use the same sound team...they almost ruined the night.
Classic Snow Patrol repertoire
Snow Patrol has been around for longer than you may think. Something Gary Lightbody pointed out during the concert was that one of the songs they were playing is the same age as Billie Marten(one of the opening acts). That being said with their latest album they've crowned themselves the 'Nostalgia Kings' for reawakened fans like myself and so many others. Their music has a knack for neither being the most absolute most popular upon its release nor for being at all unpopular 10+ years later. This concert despite some mixing flaws felt like greeting an old friend. They kept it small and intimate, and yet the crescendos, the emotion and passion they put into it was enough to rival any stage size at anytime! Gary's candor in treating screaming fans and the crowd in general was a refreshing taste of genuine personality from someone whom you'd expect to have some sort of professional facade to keep up with.
Love Snow Patrol/Hate Sound Mixing
Snow Patrol is one of my favorite bands and they didn't disappoint. But the sound mixing was terrible - the heavy bass drowned out the other musicians and the vocals. Can't believe no one on the sound team recognized how bad it was and didn't fix it.
Great Band / Beautiful Venue / Bad Mixing
SP are one of my Top 10 bands. This was the first time I saw them live and I clearly experienced how tight the band plays. The song list they performed dynamically mixed new and old tunes allowing the band to show their wide range. On paper it was perfect. However, now comes the but... sound was awful. The base drowned Lightbody’s melodious voice making the band sound like Panthers at times. Also, Lightbody’s few ackward interactions with the audience left people in the stands looking at each other and wondering why he would single out fans. All up it is difficult to write this review since this is an outstanding group of passionate artists. The show in no way diminish my appreciation for their art, but does recalibrate my expectations for shows.
