Betrayal is exactly as it sounds - gut-wrenching and deeply personal. And why wouldn't it be? It's inspired by playwright Harold Pinter's own extramarital affair with BBC television presenter Joan Bakewell.
The show is, however, truthful about winning an Olivier Award for Best New Play in 1979. Directed by Goodman Theatre Artistic Director Susan V. Boothe and led by an award-winning, star-studded cast, Betrayal has come to Chicago for one month only!

The show's powerhouse lineup includes Emmy, Oscar, and Golden Globe winner Helen Hunt leading the cast. Known for her role as Jamie Buchman in Mad About You and her Academy Award-winning performance in As Good as It Gets (1997), she is joined by Tony Award winner Robert Sean Leonard and Tony nominee Ian Barford.
Told in reverse from when the Betrayal first began, the show follows Emma, her husband Robert, and his best friend Jerry, revealing the cracks of their relationships through a series of secrets. Robert remains unaware of his wife's long-standing affair with Jerry, and you the audience are left to wonder - how well does one truly know the people closest to them?
