Composed by the Grammy award-winning artist Gabriela Lena Frank in collaboration with playwright Nilo Cruz, El Ultimo Sueno De Frida Y Diego is, in the grand the scheme of the canon, a new opera whose 2022 premiere was met with critical acclaim for its stunning incorporation of Mexican-folk traditions into the operatic form. With a cast led by Argentine mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack (playing Frida Kahlo - all dates apart from 04/01) and Mexican baritone Alfredo Daza (playing Diego Rivera), the story of love, death, and El Dios de los Muertos is told in a way like no other. A limited run, get your tickets whilst you can!
Artist Diego Rivera still mourns the loss of his wife, Frida Kahlo, three years on. Bereft and unable to create, he seeks to bring her back for El Dios de los Muertos, to have one final moment with her before he passes on. A story fraught with love and sorrow, sure to pull on your heartstrings and leave no dry eye in the house.
