Young Frankenstein
Mel Brooks' winning monster spoof
Why see Young Frankenstein?
it's alive!
Mel Brooks' hilarious monster musical is resurrected by the Mercury Theater this fall, starting just in time for Halloween! A wild spoof of Mary Shelley's classic, Young Frankenstein centers on the famous inventor's grandson, Frederick, and his sidekick Igor, and the madcap adventure they embark upon when Frederick inherits his grandfather's Transylvanian castle. Full of Brooksyian whimsy and wit, this gloriously silly show is sure to be a hit with all the family.
With a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan (who also collaborated on The Producers musical), this shlock-tactic treat debuted on Broadway in 2007, where it garnered three Tony nominations, and has since become a firm favorite for local theaters the world over.
