Chicago Symphony Orchestra - John Williams Returns at Symphony Center Orchestra Hall

Why see Chicago Symphony Orchestra - John Williams Returns?

The Movie Maestro Is Back!

Over the course of his 60 plus year career, five-time Academy Award winner John Williams' music has scored some of the greatest moments in cinematic history. You can probably hum five or six of his themes to yourself right now. In April, Williams makes a welcome return to the Chicago Symphony Center for the premiere performance of his mesmerizing Violin Concerto No. 2, featuring the exceptional talent of Anne-Sophie Mutter. Crafted specifically for Mutter in 2021, the concerto is a profoundly expressive and atmospherically rich composition spanning four movements.

Known for his grand, swelling, emotional music, Williams is best known for his collaborations with Steven Spielberg. In fact, he's scored every one but three of the director's movies, including Jurassic Park, Jaws, Indiana Jones and E.T. His other work includes the themes for Superman, Star Wars and the Harry Potter franchise.
