Los Lobos

Fusing good old fashioned rock and roll with brown-eyed soul, cumbia, boleros and norteno, Tex-Mex outfit Los Lobos (which translates to The Wolves) first gained commercial success and an international following when their cover of Ritchie Valens' La Bamba hit the top of the charts around the world in 1987. Experimenting with multiple genres over the decades, their wide-ranging sound has flourished in a variety of styles, from acoustic ballads to experimental rock. Whilst they may reinvent themselves constantly, their definitive fusion of Latin and American music remains at the creative core.

He remains firmly out of their shadows though, with a folk legacy of his own that includes seven studio albums and a fully-fledged opera.

Having written songs for the likes of Johnny Cash, Travis Tritt and Emmylou Harris, he has since become a renowned author and actor, appearing on two HBO shows, The Wire and Treme. He is recognized for bridging the gap between rock and country music, something that few artists have managed to do successfully.

The Cowboy Junkies heady blend of folk, country, and blues with a dreamy pop quality lies at the intersection between the old school Americana legends and the new school of poetic, hazy rock championed by the likes of The Velvet Underground. The ever-popular genre-bending outfit is hitting the road on tour, bringing their sleepy siren songs along for the ride.
